Recap of Week 1

Unlike what was listed on the predictions page, I went 5 out of 8 this week. Not to bad for a rookie at the guessing game.

EC vs DC
Predicted Score EC over DC 3-2
Actual Score EC over Dc 3-2
DC held their own against an EC team that placed second season but lacked the power to win the final match. How different could the result have been if uber.geeky was there to close it for DC?

EPL vs FR
Predicted Score EPL over FR 4-1
Actual Score EPLover FR 3-2
EPL had to be quite worried after tw.ista and trumpsterized lost and were down 2-1 which was a shock to most people I'm sure. But EPL wasn't out of it as siccret_weapon won match 4 and Ant wins match 5 to hold on for the victory.

Match of the Week LPL vs PP
Predicted Score LPL over PP 3-2
Actual Score PP over LPL 3-2
Another match that came down to the final game. And one has to wonder where tino.nica was. If he played the final game and called the match LPL as capt it could have resulted in a LPL win. Congrats to Neo as shocker_58 pulls out a game 5 win and proves this predictor wrong.

UP vs SS
Predicted Score UP over SS 4-1
Actual Score UP over SS 3-2
Where the hell was UP? No Kets, No Pete, No Pommy, No Aaron. can we say that UP got very lucky with only having 4 players show up. If Steven or one of their other players were able to squeak out a win UP would have been 0-1 on the season. Congrats to SS for putting a good scare in the defending champs.

BAB vs BNR
Predicted Score BNR over BAB 4-1
Actual Score BNR over BAB 3-2
BAB smelled the upset from match number 1 as they jumped out to the 2-0 lead but you need a full team. New addition Simon got BNR back on track and brownie won the decider as BNR's other newest player jasonlippi01 took the FF win.

BP vs EP
Predicted Score BP over EP 3-2
Actual Score BP over EP 4-1
BP flexed some muscle tonight after falling behind after match 1. Tim had a deep and by the time that Kevin (gameover) finished the second match EP saw their match was over. Again, EP was another team that couldn't bring a full team to week 1.

Match of the Week
DP vs DS
Predicted Score DP over DS 3-2
Actual Score DS over DP 3-2
This match lived up to the billing as it went back and forth through all 5 matches. Palp and Ross won for DS and suikoo and doyourbest1 won for Dp to make a pressure cooker in the 5th. DS fires with Chuck in the decider and he was able to come through in the end to give DS the win.

Upset of the Week
MP vs TC
Predicted Score TC over MP 3-2
Actual Score MP over TC 3-2
By the time Mike got a chance to shoot in the third match the upset pick was coming true. He took to the table down 2-0 but it didn't stop him from picking MP and pushing them on to 3 straight wins. Congrats to Mike, Dan and stpso4414 for winning it in the pressure spots.

Great start to Season 8 of UIC and here is to 13 more weeks of great matches.

Week 1 Predictions

Diamond Division

DC vs EC - Uber and DC are going to have his hands full in week 1 with a tough EC team. EC placed 2nd in the regular season last season and their players knows what it takes to win so they certainly have the upper hand. If Uber can show up with a strong team he stands a chance but EC is just to deep and experienced.
EC over DC 3-2

EPL vs FR - EPL has 3 real strong shooters right now but no depth after that. FR is a team that slipped through the cracks and took the premiership title in Emerald last season but their top 3 players will not even come close to knocking down EPL's top 3. I think FR might take a win or 2 if EPL has some no shows.
EPL over FR 4-1

Match of the Week
LPL vs PP - This has 2 evenly matched teams who will have no problems playing some cam games if need be. Both have solid players who all have interleague expearence so I expect a tough match going down to game 5 and final few balls. I give tino.nica and LPL the advantage being the home team and hitting the match ups the way he wants them. PP loses a heart breaker in week 1.
LPL over PP 3-2

UP vs SS - Not much of a match here. Steven has his hands full against a stacked UP team. Pete and Kets will bring their top team being week 1 and wanting to show their power and their will of a 3 peat. Unlike the New England Pats there will be no choke here and UP rolls.
UP over SS 4-1

Emerald Division

BAB vs BNR - This is a unfair match up for BAB in week 1. BAB are trying to break into the win column early this season and show they can compete but they are playing a team that has played for seasons together. BNR should be able to win with some ease.
BNR over BAB 4-1

BP vs EP - BP looks to rebound from playing a tough Diamond Division last season where EP looks to carry over their success from UIC Swiss. BP has some players who have been around before and know the pressures of playing and winning just 1 game where EP's players hope and poke for a 5rd tourney. BP holds on with the home table advantage.
BP over EP 3-2

Match of the Week
DP vs DS - 2 teams that know each other well and have had some great interleague matches in the past. DP snuck past DS in PRO on the carry format and split last seasons match ups. This will be a match of who shows up to play. DS has some questions on Chuck and what his status is. DP has the home table advantage and sneaks out a tough win.
DP over DS 3-2.

Upset Special
MP vs TC - I'm really not sold on how good MP is. We all know their past and their struggles last season and we know that TC isn't as bad as we think. Despite MP having the home table and naming their matchups TC is showing up with 5 good players and want to show the Emerald Division they are for real. TC pulls the first upset of the season.
TC over MP 3-2

Best of luck to all LG's and Player's in Week 1!

UIC Season Preview

Emerald Division

Bas Ass Ballers - BAB really took a whipping in the Diamond Division last season after joining UIC in week 5. I can say I honestly don't know much about this league but I look for them to continue their struggles in the Emerald Division. They can only hope to improve as the season goes on and hopefully make a run at the Consolation Cup.
Players to Watch: o.0ashley, hillbilly_hustler2000, totaljewels

Break and Run - BNR had a sub .500 record last season in a weak Emerald Division but they look to rebound and make the playoffs. BNR brings the same players week after week so they have a good team chemistry and can lift each other up after a tough match or game. BNR will have a big effect on who makes the playoffs and who doesn't.
Players to Watch: hammernail6569, redhot_2oo3, brownie_2oo3

Brit Pool - BP has some good players but not alot of them, having only 11 joining UIC so far. They came in 5th last season in the Diamond Division and move to lesser division this season. Tim will need his team to show up every week and shoot some good games, not the hot and cold shooting they usually have.
Players to Watch: drew.poolgod, im_just_jeremy, oorahhhh

Dead Strokes - DS won the Emerald Division Consolation Cup last season after blowing their chance at the Premiership finals. DS has some good shooters but it depends on which team shows up as to how well they do. Roy and Ross will need to bring their A game every week if they want a chance at winning it all. Another key is will Chuck play or has he actually retired?
Players to Watch: p00l.addiction(if he plays), de.judge, superstar.robinho

Dream Pool - Losing Ashley is a hugh hit for this league who placed 3rd last season. Mario seems to have a decent supporting cast but they didn't start coming around until the second half of last season. For DP to make the top 4 this season they will need all their players showing up every week. Look for them to play the spoiler roll this season.
Players to Watch: s_u_k_i_o_o , lvlr_degrassislam@sbcglobal.net, themvp66

Eclipse Pool - This league is a who's who of top 20 names in UIC Swiss. They had a tough road last season while playing in the Diamond Division but being bumped down gives them the chance to break into the top 4. EP is another league that needs their good playing on Friday's to continue over to Saturday's if they want to make a name for themselves.
Players to Watch: l3ad.azz_licky, speedy_874, plumber_83705

Magic Pool - This team started off real bad last season in the Diamond Division and really didn't do anything else except for the 3 FF's they won ending the season with. They look to rebound in the not as tough Emerald Division but they seem to lack the fire power to be a competitive league. Mike will really need to put this team on his back and hope for some wins.
Players to Watch: mike_oneill43, dont_miss_2007, xlx_skill_xlx

True Champs - TC worked their way to a middle of the pack finish in the Emerald Division last season. They have a few players who had better then .500 records so they can shoot and possibly win some matches but again look to be on the bottom half off the standings. TC is my sleeper pick in this division as they can pull off some upsets if their team shows up to shoot.
Players to Watch: any_jumps, tsm_alexbeast, l_wes_l

In a tough division where there really is no true favorite:
1. DP
2. BP
3. DS
4. BNR
5. MP
6. TC
7. EP
8. BAB

Season Preview UIC 8

Welcome back to season 8 of UIC. Along with doing predictions of UIC matches and a season preview I am also going to give recaps of UIC's sister league UIC Swiss, which is held every Friday afternoon and evening. So let the games begin and may the best leagues win.

Diamond Division

Devine Cues - DC joins UIC for the first time. Lead by uber.geeky DC has shown some early season success in both MLP (1-1) and PLC (2-1) this season. That success could carry over to UIC if uber is able to find a little more depth. Right now there are only 8 players who have joined UIC and with a few no shows it could really hurt their chances of getting that big W. DC could be the sleeper team of the Diamond Division.
Players to Watch: uber.geeky, nealejess401 and eng.lishman

Extreme Cues - EC finished 2nd last season in the Diamond Division regular season and they are looking for more this season. Last season this league played more players then every other league and only had 7 qualified for the playoffs. For EC to have a more successful run in UIC this time around they need more players qualified in case the no show bug hits them in the postseason.
Players to Watch: sleepyman619, lvlaster_assassin and marcoo_ec

Elite Pool Legends - Another new league to UIC this season but they only have 3 players who joined up so far. The 3 players they have so far are familiar in the interleague circle and they have played well in the past but they need more people to join up or they will be the first to be removed from UIC this season.
Players to Watch: noob_ified, trumpsterized, tw.ista

Freedom - FR barely creeped into the playoffs last season in the Emerald Division and somehow walked away winning it all. That will not be the case this season in the much tougher Diamond Division. FR will have to fight for every win, not just skate by with the 5-0 FF's of last season. A big addition is pro.ashley from DP who will help try and get FR out the basement this season.
Players to Watch: ll_eskimo_ownage_ll, poolerz_elite, pro_ashley

Latino Pool Legends - LPL fought to a fourth place finish in the Diamond Division last season. They have a team loaded of "LEGIT" shooters, all of whom are well known in the Cam leagues. They have 4 or 5 real quality players who if they all show up to shoot can be a dominate force. Look for this league to but up a good fight week after week.
Players to Watch: tino_nica, maldito_p4blo, URIIELL66

Pool Pals - Another new league to UIC this season but they are well known throughout the interleague circle. A league that plays all their home league games on cam expect to see some good quality shooters. They did very well in PRO last season with a 5 man team and now they don't have to carry. Expect PP to put up some big wins this season.
Players to Watch: bootiful.buckme, trust.neo, exquisite_marky

Straight Shots - Steve has his hands full this season going from the Emerald Division to the Diamond Division. A team that struggled last season will really need to step it up if they want to stay out of the basement this season. They have had success in UIC swiss so the talent is there but can it continue from Friday's swiss tourneys to Saturday's race to 3?
Players to Watch: steven.rules, x_craig_rulez_x, x_kinky_laura_x

United Pool - No CZ, No 8BR is there a league that can stop them? Nope, not even close. This league has won PLC last season, they won UIC 2 seasons in a row, made MLP finals 2 seasons ago. Pete and Kets has an easy time walking away with this Division and might be able to allow some newer interleague shooters to get a chance to prove themselves.
